From the start of the 2025/2026 NH Season, Trainers are advised to note that in order to qualify for Handicap Hurdles with an advertised value of €40,000 and above, horses MUST have run at least four times over hurdles. This qualification does not apply to Novice Handicap Hurdles which will remain at 3 runs over hurdles. Also, in order to qualify for Handicap Steeplechases with an advertised value of €40,000 and above, horses MUST have run at least four times over fences. This qualification does not apply to Novice Handicap Steeplechases which will remain at 3 runs over fences.
Trainers are advised that entries open for the above Barrier Trials at 9am on Thursday 15 May. Entries close by 1pm on Wednesday 21 May.
CLICK HERETrainers are advised to note that The QuinnBet Handicap (Race 133C), which was scheduled to be held at the Curragh on Friday 23 May, will now be held on Saturday 24 May as Race 134J to form a 9-race card as part of the World Tote Pool. This race will now close for entries by 12 noon on Tuesday 20 May with declarations to run to be made by 10am on Thursday 22 May along with the rest of the Curragh Saturday Meeting. This now means that the Curragh Meeting on Friday 23 May will be a 7-race card (see page 375 of the Irish Racing Calendar 24 April issue).
N.B. From the start of the 2025/2026 NH Season, horses rated 110 or less over hurdles that have run in at least three handicap hurdles, may be allowed straight into a handicap chase on their hurdle mark. All cases will be at the discretion of the handicapper.
A start date of 12th October has been confirmed for the new 3yo Irish EBF Academy hurdles with two owners incentives also confirmed.

This race is designed to provide a reward for horses in the 110 rating bracket and will afford preference to winners and placed horses by suspending HRI Directive 10 (Balloting).......... All horses which run in a 110 benchmark handicap hurdle between the 5th May, 2025 and the 9th July, 2025 inclusive will be eligible to enter and run in the ‘110 Series Final Handicap Hurdle’. The final will be a 120 benchmark handicap hurdle to allow horses that win or have an increased rating in the 110 division to remain eligible for the final.

Click HereTrainers please note the enforcement of the 15-days training rule required to participate in a race in France, effective from 12th November 2024. In accordance with Article 111 of the Rules of Racing (Entrainement d’un cheval entrainé hors de France du Code des Courses au Galop), any horse trained outside of France and entered in a public race in France must be duly declared by its trainer via the France Galop website (Site Pro) at least 15 days before the race the horse will be entered. From now on, if a horse is not declared via the France Galop website at least 15 days prior to the race, the entry will be invalidated. The explanatory guide, can be emailed (in English) if so required and will be available in the next few days. The date from which a horse is authorized to race will be visible in “My training list” section.
The BHA has confirmed that a restriction on overseas-trained runners in Class 5 & 6 Flat Handicaps and Classified Flat Races has been removed. The restriction will be lifted from the end of the turf season in Britain, affecting races staged from Monday 11th November onwards.
