Dermot Weld has some big targets in mind for Tarnawa after her impressive victory in the Give Thanks Stakes at Cork.
The Aga Khan-owned filly was having her first run since disappointing in the Oaks at Epsom.
She bounced back to form in fine style and now has the Moyglare ”Jewels” Blandford Stakes at the Curragh and Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot on her agenda.
“She’ll look at Irish Champions Weekend and then British Champions Day,” Weld told Racing TV’s Luck On Sunday.
“The Fillies & Mares race at Ascot has been good to me – both Champions meetings have been very good to me.
“I’ve been totally behind the idea of both meetings from the start, and fortunately for me we’ve been very successful at both.
“You could argue they come at the wrong time – but we have the Classics in the spring, Royal Ascot, York and I always felt European racing tailed off a bit in the autumn except for the Arc.
“But I think the Irish Champions Weekend and British Champions are excellent additions and deserve our support.”
