Gordon Elliott keen to see conclusion of trainers' title

Gordon Elliott will be pleased when his enthralling battle with Willie Mullins to be this season's champion jumps trainer is finally over.

Elliott leads the perennial titleholder by over €388,000 as he seeks to be the number one for the first time but that could all change at next week's five-day Punchestown Festival that brings the campaign to a close.

Both trainers will be all out to secure as much of the near €2.9m prize-money as possible.

Elliott told the Irish Independent: "It'll be a relief when it's all over, whoever wins, and Jamie Codd's battle with Patrick Mullins to win the champion amateur title adds another dimension to it all."
