Dali aiming to deliver Dundalk prize for Aidan O’Brien

Wednesday, Jul 11 2018

Dundalk host their annual July 12 meeting on Thursday afternoon, with the EOS IT Solutions Handicap the feature on the seven-race card.

Six have been declared for this five-furlong contest, with the Aidan O’Brien-trained Dali the top-weight.

This son of Scat Daddy won the Listed Midsummer Sprint Stakes on his penultimate start at Naas, before disappointing on his most recent outing in the Rockingham at the Curragh.

Alfredo Arcano finished ahead of him there in seventh and he reopposes with Oisin Orr taking off a valuable 5lb.

Denis Linehan also claims 5lb on Golden Spell, who was last seen finishing fifth in a Group Three at the Curragh.

Sors, Castrogiovanni, and nine-times course winner Togoville complete the line-up.

Anthony McCann trains Togoville and he saddles UK import Stealth in the Highline Construction Handicap.

This bay gelding looks to be up against it, with the hat-trick seeking Waitingfortheday sure to prove popular with punters.

Successful at Leopardstown and Fairyhouse last month, the Joseph O’Brien-trained Elzaam filly has Queen Rabab, Verhoyen, and Innamorare as her chief threats.

O’Brien again looks the man to side with the Morgan Fuels Handicap, with the consistent Pedisnap his representative here.

She has yet to finish outside the first three in five starts this year and another good effort can be expected from her now.

It would come as little surprise if O’Brien also claimed the opening HMT Shipping Claiming Race.

He saddles recent Naas runner-up Eos here and she is the stand-out name in what looks a weak contest.

Elsewhere on the card, the 100-rated Would Be King appears the one to beat in the Murdock Building Supplies Maiden, while Small Bit Of Love, Temasek Star, Universal Focus, and Flindt are a few for the shortlist in the O’Neill Sportswear Handicap.

Ten have been declared for the Down GAA Maiden, with Frankincense, Litecoin, and Wishing Star the ones to focus on here.
